 Capacity Building Childwatch has started consultations with Conseil pour le Developpement de la Recherche Economique et Social en Afrique (CODESRIA) and the African Network for the Protection and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) on a training course for child researchers during 1996. The seminar on ”Children in a Period of Transition: Childhood Research and Policies in Central and Eastern Europe” in Vienna in November raised the issue of the need for closer cooperation between researchers in Eastern/Central Europe and former Soviet Union countries, to strengthen their capacities and infrastructures for child research during the period of reorientation and restructuring.
