Marney Thomas
Marney Thomas, Project Director, Strong Families, Strong Soldiers
Prevention Project; Senior Extension Associate,
Family Life Development Center. Dr. Thomas is a developmental
psychologist with over twenty years of experience in
direct services, teaching, research, and administration. She has been
worked with CPSTI since 1980, first as a consultant
trainer and then as upstate program manager. Her special interests are in
testing and assessment, atypical development in
infancy and early childhood, and high risk environments with a focus on
substance abuse and its impact on the child and
family. Dr. Thomas was one of the original authors of the NYS Risk
Assessment Curriculum and Services Model. In
addition, to her work with the Department of Army project, she is involved
with a pilot study on the impact of in utero
exposure to drugs on the risk for maltreatment. Dr. Thomas has her Ph.D.
from Cornell University in Developmental
Psychology.
